Karen and I feel lucky we were able to visit with Peter on August 19th when we came to Wertheim. I think our relationship with Peter was special and over the years we invited him into our home many times to meet our family and friends. During our visit we reminisced about the various parties, hockey games, volleyball games and BBQs. I know he really enjoyed visiting via the many journeys through the USA.
He always was a gentleman and will be greatly missed.

I would like Peter’s family to know how much I adored spending time with Peter. I loved his laugh and his great sense of humor. He was a genuinely kind and generous man—always giving thoughtful gifts. One fond memory I have is going to Duran in Pula, Croatia, to visit the glass factory there. After dinner one night we went to the restaurant bar where Peter introduced me to grappa, which we proceeded to drink a great deal of. The next time Peter visited the states, he brought me a bottle. One regret I have is that Peter had secured tickets for us to join him at Octoberfest one year, unfortunately, we were unable to attend. I know how much fun we missed going with Peter. The next time we visited Wertheim, he gave us a giant glass Octoberfest stein. I will miss him dearly.

Peter always sought a personal connection with us, beyond the business interaction of a supplier with a customer. He would host a meal the evening before a visit or even spend an entire weekend when we came to Wertheim. Even as business has become ever faster and more impersonal, Peter kept his personal touch to the very end.

The greatest pleasure in my career is working with people, and Peter was a particular pleasure to work with. He understood our company’s commitment to our product and consistently worked to support us. He was imaginative in problem solving and tireless in pursuit of additional business. His longevity in supporting our account for Schott and then Duran is impressive. What I admire most is that he enjoyed working and did so for as long as he could which is a path very similar to mine. He was a good friend and will be missed.
